The term TSDNS stands for "TeamSpeak Domain Name System". This is an extra service from TeamSpeak Systems, supported since 2011 by every TeamSpeak Client from version 3.0.0-rc1. The task of TSDNS is to liberate a TeamSpeak server IP address of the required specification of the server port or to facilitate a ip address or long domain such as customer521.server8.rz9.serverhoster.de:10879.
Is a TSDNS domain useful?
It is proven that people can remember words better than numbers. In a TSDNS domain the TeamSpeak 3 server IP address and the port is no longer an issue. The address of your TeamSpeak 3 server can a clan tag, such as tgr.ts3index.com, or contain a different name of your choice.
VPN Detection & Geo Blocking
For additional protection of the TeamSpeak server, a free VPN detection and geo blocking feature can be configured in the product settings.
VPN Detection: When a user attempts to connect to the TeamSpeak server via the domain, the user's IP address is compared with our geo-database. If any irregularities are detected, e.g. if it is not a regular ISP but to a known VPN service or server hosting provider, the user will be redirected to a TeamSpeak server with a modal quit including notification.
Geo Blocking: You can define which countries are allowed to access the TeamSpeak server. You may choose between a whitelist (only selected countries are allowed) or a blacklist (selected countries are blocked). Similar to VPN detection, the user's IP address is compared with our geo-database. If the IP address matches the defined criteria, they will be redirected to a TeamSpeak server with a modal quit including notification.
